Reading to dogs has been proved to help children develop literacy skills and build confidence, through both the calming effect the dogs’ presence has on children and the fact that the dog will listen to the children read without being judgemental or critical. This comforting environment helps to nurture children’s enthusiasm for reading and provides them with the confidence needed to read aloud.              16/11/2016                   20:27

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man attempted to snatch a bag from a teenager in Wisbech.
The 16-year-old victim was walking along a footpath from Lynn Road into Trafford Park yesterday (Monday, November 23) at about 5.15pm when he was approached and pushed from behind.
Speaking in a foreign accent the offender said ‘give me the bag’ and proceeded to pull out what was believed to be a knife.
The pair grappled before the victim ran away.
The offender is described as white, 6ft, wearing a black hooded top, dark scarf around his nose and gloves.
Sergeant Alan Boughen said: “This was a particularly frightening incident which has left the victim in shock but thankfully not seriously injured.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Lynn Road at the time of the incident to get in touch. We have increased patrols in the area and ask people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.”
Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crime stoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Reminder – Children in Need

As advertised on previous newsletters it is ‘Children in Need’ on Friday.  Children are invited to dress as a super hero for the day.  A couple of parents have shared that their children have not got a superhero costume. Please do not worry if this is the case children may also wear spotty or yellow clothes.  All non uniform money (£1) will be donated to Children in Need.  Please help us to raise money for this cause.

Family Picnic Information –  All children as stated on our earlier picnic letter will be ready for collection from the St Peter’s Junior field at 12:00. You can access their site from either our side gate or their main front gate. The children will be sat in a class circle ready for collection. As children are collected they will be ticked off our safeguarding list. This is to ensure that if they are picnicking away from the school class group, they are with a designated adult.  The children will have already been given their packed lunch provided by school.  In addition all children that attend either school will be given an ice cream, this will be available from the signposted areas.  At our school this will be from the area behind the year 1 mobile. Additional ice cream and squash will also be on sale from this area. Toilets will be available in the mobile for adult and child use.  The picnic will finish promptly at 1:15 with children returning back to their classrooms.  All adults to leave from the main school side entrance or the junior entrance and not to walk through the school buildings.  All children are to stay in school after the picnic. I hope this clarifies any questions.  Hopefully the weather will continue to be kind to us.  Looking forward to seeing you there!!      02/07/2015     18:19

Thank you to everyone who sponsored Mr Farrer and I to run The Great East Anglian 10k Run.  We completed this in 1hr20.  It wasn’t the best weather as it poured with rain whilst we were standing in our start pen and it continued to do so.  We were soaked through even before we started!  However, we have managed to raise around £500 for school so it was well worth the soaking!  Enjoy your weekend!!

Thank you to all children that came dressed in their sports wear today!  Together with our ‘Gear’ sponsorship money we have managed to raise £350.00 towards our garden project. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Have a great bank holiday weekend!!

You may have received a letter regarding your child’s attendance today that was issued under the guidance of the Educational Welfare Office, for the Cambridgeshire area. This is a standard letter that schools are directed to send out. I understand that all children get ill and there are valid reasons for this, however as a school we have been issued set guidance that we must adhere to. Please come and discuss this if it has caused you any worry or concern.

Updated:

I hear all of your concerns about today’s attendance letter.  I must apologise as this letter is causing a lot of upset and concern.  As I mentioned earlier this is a computer generated letter and unfortunately this is how errors have occurred . I will personally follow up your comments and concerns with the Educational Welfare Officer about this letter and it’s wording.  However regular monitoring of attendance is statutory.

We will continue to reward our attendance using our positive messages in our school newsletters, weekly book raffle and certificates. We have been working hard to promote a positive school, partnerships, celebrate our school successes and I feel this could be viewed as a barrier to this aim.  27/03/2015    20:15

The amount of Pupil Premium Funding allocated to a school depends on the number of pupils eligible to receive Free School Meals (FSM) and Looked After Children (LAC). Pupil Premium Funding is also allocated for pupils who have parents that are currently serving in the Armed Forces. The Government believes that Pupil Premium, which is in addition to main school funding, is the best way to address underlying inequalities between those pupils eligible for FSM or LAC and their peers, by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it the most.

Is your child eligable for Pupil Premium Funding? (£1300)

Please check out the Pupil Premium form uploaded to our newsletter page.

Help your child to achieve more !
